Best robot vacuum: what the testers picked
Who four major US testers pick, with the date of each list.
There’s no single best robot vacuum. Wirecutter’s winner is a budget robot built mainly to vacuum, RTINGS and Vacuum Wars crown premium vacuum and mop robots, and Consumer Reports spotlights a Eufy and a Roomba.

Where they agree
Roborock holds the top pick at two of the four testers, Wirecutter and RTINGS, plus two more RTINGS picks (Qrevo Curv and Q7 M5) and third place at Vacuum Wars. Dreame and its sub-brand MOVA appear on all four lists once you count the mop-combo picks, including Vacuum Wars’ winner.
Rankings move
Vacuum Wars had the Dreame X60 Max Ultra Complete on top in August 2026 and the MOVA V70 Ultra Complete in October.
How each tester works
- RTINGS says it buys every robot it reviews and lists 101 robot vacuums bought and tested. It notes that its top pick, the Saros 10R, struggles with pet hair embedded in carpet.
- Vacuum Wars says it buys every robot at retail, has tested more than 205, and publishes a changelog when its scoring changes. Its tests cover suction, deep carpet cleaning, pet hair, a 7-inch hair tangle test, a 24-object obstacle course and 14 dried stains.
- Consumer Reports also scores data privacy and security, and keeps its full ratings for members.
- Wirecutter runs separate guides for robots that vacuum and for vacuum and mop combos.
And the Saros 20 on our site?
The Saros 20 is Roborock’s newer flagship. RTINGS says it cleans carpet better than its top pick, the Saros 10R, while the 10R avoids obstacles more consistently and removes stains better.
